Can Masons be Members of Knights of Columbus?

Knights of Columbus and Masons Have Pancake Breakfast!

Knights of Columbus Confront Occupy Vatican

Update: [GMT 7:33pm] It's confirmed. There will be no Masonic pancakes at the "Marian Lodge". It has been cancelled for unknown reasons.

Edit: We reported on yet another incident of cooperation between Masons and the Knights of Columbus on July 23rd. The Knights leadership in the state of Minnesota attempted to downplay this by appealing to some shell game action. They claimed that since their halls aren't owned directly by the Knights, that they can be rented to anyone. The explanation given by the State Advocate James Terwedo was also scandalous, unconvincing and pathetic.

"We would allow gay and lesbian use of the KC Hall as long as they were not publicly opposing church teaching."

It's unconfirmed presently, but it looks like the Masonic Breakfast which was scheduled to take place this Sunday, August 12, was to be held at the Marian hall, Knights of Columbus, 1114 American Boulevard West, Bloomington, is being cancelled.

There was quite a lot of pressure brought to bear and we'd like to thank those who prayed and acted on this.

No doubt, this isn't the last time something like this will happen, since the people who allow these things to happen in Knights of Columbus are still drawing salaries.

It is my hope that the Knights will begin to police their own. Also I would like to see the Knights standing along the brave young men of the TFP as they publicly protest against evil and defend the Truths of the Catholic Church. They go where the battle is, wearing their red standard across their chests, handing out fliers in the public forum. Often the enemies of God pelt them with food, hiss and spit like the possessed are known to do, yet the TFP is undaunted. It is the TFP, not a diocesan "ministry" that stands outside theaters showing films of blasphemy and prays the rosary publicly as an act of reparation. Those young men are true knights.

I would really, really like to see that kind of action out of the Knights of Columbus. It was a Knight that paid $2000 to ransom a consecrated Host from ebay a few years back. I will never forget that Catholic action and I will always thank him from my heart. Reply

I think the Knights tend to shy away from controversial things.

I've never seen them stepping out in the line of fire like TFP does. Reply

"We would allow gay and lesbian use of the KC Hall as long as they were not publicly opposing church teaching."

So saith a bigwig at the Knights of Columbus.

Does this rather dim bulb of a man not know that by choosing a sexually-perverted manner of living, not to mention doing so publicly and proudly, that they are already opposing Church teaching? Reply

If you really think the KofC doesn't step out there, you really aren't paying attention. The Holy Father doesn't agree:

They'll step out there to flaunt Catholic teaching or collaborate openly with Freemasons, but I don't often see them take the risks taken by the TFP, no.

What's the Holy Father disagreeing with? He's clearly not aware that this sort of thing is going on in the KoC.

See my comment below. What post-Vatican II popes have been promoting is inextricably related to Dignatitis Humanæ and Vatican II's all-out embracing of what Bl. Pope Pius IX, Greogory XVI, et al. have condemned. Viz., it's a denial of the reign of Christ the King.

When I read the headline, I truly thought it was a joke -- maybe a parody on Obama speaking at the Al Smith dinner. But it's real? How terribly sad. Anything for a buck, apparently. Reply

Dealing directly with bigwigs (not Anderson though) in the K of C Connecticut office hoping to get them step into the fire over abortion, all I got for my efforts after a couple of weeks of pushing them was a little box blurb in their membership newsletter. And I was representing a pretty large worldwide pro-life organization at the time.

The local chapters were (mostly) great and jumped at the chance to get into the fray but not the main office. NO WAY. The local chapters brought me into contact with some good Catholic men. A few showed me that there were snakes in the woodpile.

Until they clean house...starting at the top and actually shed some Abortionist members, I'll never buy another Tootsie Roll as long as I live. From my personal experience the overall membership is very, very good but their headquarters is in the insurance business, not the business of helping save souls or saving the lives of innocent babies. Regarding the For Greater Glory movie, Anderson failed to mention an important fact: Plutarco Elías Calles was a Mason (and thus anti-Catholic), as were many of the Mexican presidents before him.

The Knights have unfortunately morphed into a para-Masonic organization.

Masons were responsible for the French Revolution and its Declaration of the Rights of Man, which says that no one, of any true or false religion, "may be questioned about his opinions, [and the] same [for] religious [opinions], provided that their manifestation does not trouble the public order established by the law."

Pope Gregory XVI, in Mirari Vos, called it an "insanity" that liberty of conscience and worship is each man's personal right, which ought to be legally proclaimed and asserted in every rightly constituted society; and that a right resides in the citizens to an absolute liberty, which should be restrained by no authority whether ecclesiastical or civil, whereby they may be able openly and publicly to manifest and declare any of their ideas whatever, either by word of mouth, by the press, or in any other way.

Bl. Pope Pius IX's Quanta Cura and Syllabus of errors make similar condemnations.

Now the Knights of Columbus supports the Masonic, Vatican II novelty that the human person has a right to religious freedom. This freedom means that all men are to be immune from coercion on the part of individuals or of social groups and of any human power, in such wise that no one is to be forced to act in a manner contrary to his own beliefs, whether privately or publicly, whether alone or in association with others, within due limits. (Dignitatis Humanæ §2)

And both Knights and Masons can be nominally Catholic…

(Taken from the discussion here. See also this Fisheater's thread.)

Pope Leo XIII—author of the last encyclical that explicitly mentions Freemasonry, Humanum Genus—highly recommended Msgr. George F. Dillon's book on Masonry: Grand Orient Freemasonry Unmasked (a.k.a. War of Anti-Christ with the Church and Christian Civilization). Reply

The Minnesota State Advocate of the Knights of Columbus is a problem. He belongs to a Council who has conduct a JOINT Steak Fry with the Masons in the past. Catholics, and particularily Knights of Columbus, who are complelled to be Practial Catholics in communion with the Holy See, should never cooperate with groups that they could NEVER join, and still be Practical Catholics (such as the Masons) in communion with the Holy See. This blurring of the teaching on the Masons by cooperating with them, HARMS TRUE CATHOLIC IDENTITY, AND LEDS PEOPLE TO IGNORE CATHOLIC TEACHINGS! Reply

I am a Catholic Mason who is also a KofC. I intend to remain that way. I would estimate almost 1000 Brother Knights across the country are also lodge members. Most of us must remain undercover. Sad.
