'Mount Zion is on the southern part of Jerusalem's Old city. The mountain was not included in the area surrounded by Jerusalem's Walls, but is an integral part of the old city.
Jewish and Muslim traditions mark Mount Zion as the burial place of King David, and today it is possible to visit King David's Tomb.
Christian tradition point to Mount Zion as the place where the last supper was held, in a room over King David's Tomb, called 'Coenaculum'. This is also where Christ re-appeared after his resurrection.
Christian traditions also point to Mount Zion as the place where Virgin Mary have fallen asleep for the last time. On that spot, a massive Benedictine basilica, named the Dormition Abby was erected.'

King David's Tomb is beneath the Dormiton Abbey on Mt. Zion, beneath what is thought to have been the location for the 'Last Supper'.
Some believe this to not be the correct location of the Tomb based on the incorrect assumption that it lay outside the walls of Jerusalem, instead pointing to the City of David.
However as you can see from the above map the location of the walls of Jerusalem during the First Temple period were very different, and included the present site.
The location was also adjacent to that of the Essene Quarter, who some Masonic writers have tried to connect to Freemasonry.
For more than a thousand years, Jewish tradition has identified Mount Zion as being the last resting place of King David and his descendants, the Kings of Yehudah. The fearless Jewish traveler,"Benjamin of Tudela", who visited Jerusalem in the twelfth century describes how the royal graves were discovered. "After the collapsed of a church on Mount Zion, workman found previously hidden caves under the rubble. They entered the caves and wanted to steal the treasures they saw.
