The parents of 273 children may now rest a little easier knowing that if their child goes missing, they are armed with valuable information.

On Saturday, Branson Masonic Lodge No. 587 sponsored the Missouri Child Identification program, known as MoCHIP.

“I think every parent should have their child go through this,” said Herb Terrill, Branson Masonic Lodge worshipful master. “If something did happen, (the parents) have the information ready to hand over to the police.”

The program was held in conjunction with the Skaggs Community Health Fair at the Branson Convention Center and officials said they consider this to be their most successful year. They more than doubled the number of children they have processed during past events.

For several years, the program was held at the Boys and Girls Club, and for the first time this year, it was held at the convention center. The Boys and Girls Club continued its support of the program and helped by supplying volunteers. Several other organizations and businesses also helped with the event.

“The Branson community is very helpful with putting this on,” Terrill said.

He said he hopes they will continue to hold the MoCHIP event in conjunction with the health fair and has received a lot of great feedback.

“It looks like a relationship will continue,” he said.

The program is free to parents thanks to the Grand Lodge of Missouri Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons which pays for the program. The money is made possible through Masonic Lodge members and donations throughout the year. Call (417) 332-1912 for more information.
