State Police Make Arrest in Embezzlement from Masonic Lodge

On January 21, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested John P. Wells, age 44 of Milford, PA after an investigation into the theft of funds from lodges of the Free and Accepted Masons in Sullivan County. An investigation revealed that Wells embezzled funds exceeding $50,000 over several years while he was an officer for the Masons.
Wells was charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree. He was arraigned in the Village of Liberty Court and released after posting $15,000 secured bond. State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
